Catch You Catch Me! This was my first new cosplay I wore when I started going to conventions again (thanks, coronavirus!). I’m many years older now, and my body’s changed a fair bit, so I wasn’t very comfortable with the idea of wearing something form-fitting, but I also wanted to feel cute, so I settled on cosplaying one of my magical girl favorites, the classic costume from Cardcaptor Sakura!
The pink dress is made of corduroy because I like its weight a lot, though it was maybe not the brightest idea for a summer convention like Otakon. (I was sweating so, so much for the 15 minutes we took photos outside. Molly’s assistant kept dabbing the sweat off my face. If it looks like I’m glowing…it’s the sweat!)
I bought a bunch of ribbons that I got to use for this costume, and I also purchased the wings, wand, and cards. It’s such a popular and iconic series that there are so many cosplay props available for it online.
I thrifted the shoes, and they are some of the cutest mary janes I’ve ever owned. The velcro for the strap of the shoe needs to be replaced, though. It was weak enough that it kept coming undone as I walked around the convention. I also need to remember to pad the back heel of the shoes, because I cut up my heels pretty badly by the end of the day and ruined my stockings.
Otherwise, I’d like to get a better petticoat for this, because I had to wear two to get the silhouette I wanted! But I did at least achieve the poof.
